The big news today is about all the injuries the '09 draft class has been racking up. I'm proposing a nickname for this class...the Glass Class! In this last game, Mike Hamlin has gone down for 6 weeks with a broken wrist and Jason Williams sprained his ankle. Add them to Robert Brewster (pec) and Brandon Williams (knee), already out for the season, and the quarterback McGee (knee) who's been ruled out of his second preseason game against the Vikings. At least 6th round pick Stephen Hodge will be returning after 2 weeks off to play against the Vikes. Here are some articles about it

rookies are performing.The Boys made a few moves to shore up their ailing secondary on Monday, picking up undrafted rookie cornerback/safety DeAngelo Willingham off waivers from Tampa Bay and signing cornerback Jeremy Haynes, an undrafted rookie from McNeese State just cut by Tennessee. I think this is just to have some bodies for the last preseason game.
Phillips has also strongly implied that the starters won't play in the last preseason game. He's definitely ruled out Roy Williams and Sam Hurd, though if this was a regular season game, both veteran receivers would be ready to play.

the Cowboys injuries.On a positive note, undrafted rookie Kevin Ogletree out of Virginia has been making Cowboys fans rumble that he should beat out his competitors for the 5th receiver spot. With the decimation of the back up linebacker and cornerback corps, I don't think the Boys will be taking 6 receivers into the season. It looks like Phillips has some thinking to do if he is ready to give up on former high draft pick I. Stanbach and 7th rounder Manny Johnson.

In other news, the Cowboys released tackle Andre Douglas on Monday. Douglas, a rookie free agent out of Temple, had joined team during training camp.
Former Cowboy great and Hall of Famer Michael Irvin has a new gig...besides Dancing with the Stars. Irvin has been added to the studio team on NFL network. He'll be doing both NFL Gameday Morning on Sunday mornings and also the NFL Gameday Highlights with Deion Sanders and Rich Eisen that wraps up the day on Sunday evenings.
